Global society has known no peace in recent years, particularly since the European Economic Community, under the absolute, inflexible direction of the United States, decided that the time had come to settle accounts with what remained of two great nations which, inspired by the ideas of Marx, had achieved the great feat of ending the […]

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS, HAVANA, Cuba — Retired Cuban leader Fidel Castro on Friday blamed the Ukrainian government in Kiev for the downing of a Malaysian Airlines passenger plane. He also criticized Israel’s ground offensive in the Gaza Strip, and the United States for saying Israel has a right to defend itself. Castro’s comments were made in […]

Maybe the empire thought that we would not honor our word when, during days of uncertainty in the past century, we affirmed that even if the USSR were to disappear Cuba would continue struggling. World War II broke out on September 1, 1939 when Nazi-fascist troops invaded Poland and struck like a lightning over the […]

A few days ago I mentioned the great challenges humanity is currently facing. Intelligent life emerged on our planet approximately 200,000 years ago, although new discoveries demonstrate something else. This is not to confuse intelligent life with the existence of life which, from its elemental forms in our solar system, emerged millions of years ago. […]

The most demolishing article I have seen nowadays about Latin America was written by Renán Vega Cantor, full professor at the National Pedagogical University of Bogotá, which was published three days ago by the website ‘Rebelión’ under the title “Ecos de la Cumbre de las Américas” (Echoes of the Summit of the Americas). It is a […]

I took a good look at Obama in the famous “Summit Meeting”.  Sometimes he was overcome by tiredness, he unwillingly shut his eyes but, at times, he slept with open eyes.  The Cartagena Summit was not a meeting of a gathering of misinformed presidents, but a meeting which included official representatives of 33 countries of […]

The search for the political truth will always be a difficult task even in our times, when science has placed in our hands a huge amount of knowledge. One of the most important was the possibility to know and study the fabulous power of the energy contained in matter. The person who discovered that energy […]

It is not a matter of being optimistic or pessimistic, knowing or not knowing elementary things, of being responsible or not for events. Those who would like to be thought of as politicians should be thrown onto the trash heap of history when, as the norm goes, they have no idea about everything or almost […]

A little more than eight months ago, on February 21 of this year, I affirmed with full conviction, “NATO’s plan is to occupy Libya.” Under this title I addressed the issue for the first time in a Reflection the content of which appeared to be pure fantasy.  I include in these lines the facts which […]

• Reflections of Fidel A brilliant and valiant statement July 4.11 ATTENDING to other matters currently priorities momentarily took me away from the frequency with which I wrote Reflections during 2010; however, the proclamation by the revolutionary leader Hugo Chávez last Thursday, June 30, obliges me to write these lines. • REFLECTIONS OF FIDEL The […]

Saturday evening, the 19th, after a sumptuous banquet, NATO leaders ordered the attack on Libya. Of course, nothing could occur without the United States claiming its irrefutable role as supreme leader. From its command post of that institution in Europe, a senior official declared that “Odyssey Dawn” was about to begin. World public opinion was […]
