How the Deep State Corrupted Many American Writers In this week’s episode of “Scheer Intelligence,” Truthdig Editor in Chief Robert Scheer interviews Joel Whitney, author and co-founder of Guernica magazine. Whitney’s new book, “Finks: How the C.I.A. Tricked the World’s Best Writers,” explores how the CIA influenced acclaimed writers and publications during the Cold War to produce subtly anti-communist material. During the interview, Scheer and Whitney discuss these manipulations and how the CIA controlled major news agencies and respected literary publications (such as the Paris Review). Their talk comes at a particularly tense time in American politics, as accusations of fake news and Russian propaganda fly from both sides of the aisle. But the history detailed in Whitney’s book presents a valuable lesson for writers hoping to avoid similar manipulations today. Scheer opens the discussion with the question: “Were they really tricked?”

On March 8, 2004 the Iraqi Governing Council (IGC) adopted a temporary constitution drafted with the direct assistance of the U.S. Considering the explicit U.S. interest in the Syrian crisis, one may speculate about what could happen if the same scenario occurs in Syria. It’s highly probable that such a project has been discreetly discussed […]

Pentagon and Saudi-GCC airstrikes, ground operations and naval blockades worsen humanitarian crises in region’s most underdeveloped state United States President Donald Trump paid special tribute to the widow of a Navy Seal, Ryan Owen, who was killed in what many say was a botched military operation in the Yemen highlands village of al-Ghayil in the […]

We are told we live in a Judeo-Christian civilization, that the West has a Judeo-Christian heritage, a concept useful to a largely Christian empire where Jews play a powerful role, but one which is rejected by serious scholars, both Christian and Jewish. Talmudic scholar Jacob Neusner told Newsweek: “Theologically and historically, there is no such […]

Three decades before the rise of fascism in Europe, Africans were displaced and exterminated There are numerous efforts taking place internationally aimed at strengthening economic and political links with African nation-states. The continent requires a clean break with western domination Over the last several years along the Indian Ocean coast in East Africa substantial finds of oil and natural gas resources have been under development. … The Trump victory fits into this decadent scenario. Are we facing a true revolutionary who intends to rid forever global hegemonic aims, or is he simply a well-thought-out pause, created by the elites to revitalize the economy, arrest the internal discontent in the country, and rebuild the army to resume the march toward global hegemony in 2020? This is the typical million-dollar question that I tried to give an answer to in a previous article. At the moment, it is difficult to interpret and predict which path will be taken by the elected president. Both have many arguments to support them and can easily be disputed or accepted. Only time will tell if the reality around us is already now placed in a multipolar world order, or if we are in a convulsive transition phase in which the United States remains anchored to the role of global power hoping to preserve the ‘unipolar moment’ it began in 1989.

Recognizing that there is and has been a century’s long shrouded plan to mastermind a worldwide Weltanschauung that puts a diabolical elite mastery over the billions of human beings, which make up the vast hordes of divinely created life on this planet, is a taboo topic in most cultures. The entire system of socially manufactured […]

Khartoum, Sudan. “What could be the most striking image, one that would clearly illustrate the destructive involvement of the United States in Sudan?” I ask. “In short, what should I photograph, that could show the suffering of the Sudanese people?” “Let’s go and photograph what is left of the Al-Shifa factory,” I am told. “It […]

Pentagon bombings and ground assault cannot halt resistance to wider Middle East war A new proposal for the cessation of hostilities in Yemen was announced on October 16 amid an escalation in United States bombing operations against the most impoverished nation in the Middle East. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and United Nations envoy to Yemen, Ould Cheikh Ahmed of Mauritania, issued the call during a break from discussions in London centered on the current situation in Syria. Kerry told the international press that “We are not calling for this in a vacuum. There have been communications to both the Houthi through various intermediaries as well as to [Yemeni] President [Mansour] Hadi, respectful of his position, but this is the time to implement a cease-fire unconditionally and to move to the negotiating table. We cannot emphasize enough today the urgency of ending the violence in Yemen, of providing for an opportunity for a political settlement, which is the only way it will be ultimately resolved.” (Al Manar, Oct. 17)
